Charlotte Olympia pays tribute to Zaha Hadid

-

FOOTWEAR brand Charlotte Olympia has joined forces with Zaha Hadid's design agency to release a pair of shoes and a clutch bag paying homage to the late architect, who died in March 2016.

The brand launched two limited-edition creations designed in collaboration with the architect – a pair of platform heel shoes and a transparent clutch bag, both formed with fluid shapes in Perspex and with rose gold accents.

Both pieces reference the characteristic designs of the architect and the designer. The pair met in 2015 and decided to work together. Zaha Hadid Design and Charlotte Olympia then continued to work on the collection, meticulously creating the shoes and clutch as envisaged by Hadid.

“It was an honor and privilege to have worked with her and to continue working with her fan- tastic team on this dream collaboration. Hadid was a phenomenal person to have known and her work and aesthetic are constant sources of inspiration for me,” explains Charlotte Olympia Dellal, founder of the eponymous brand.

The shoes and clutch are available at charlotteolympia.com and via Charlotte Olympia sales points.

Hadid was born in 1950 in Baghdad and studied in Beirut and London. In 1979, she founded her own architecture practice after having worked in collaboration with Rem Koolhaas. She also taught at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London and at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in the United States.

Hadid was the first woman to be crowned with the Pritzker Architecture Prize, one of the most prestigious in the profession. – AFP Relaxnews
