In dinosaur land

-

ONE day, my family and I went hiking up a big mountain.

We were having a great time, enjoying the scenery, breathing in the fresh air, and looking at interesting bugs and plants.

Suddenly we heard an extremely loud roar. Everyone jumped and looked at each other. For a few seconds, there was silence.

“Well, let’s go investigate,’’ said Dad. We slowly crept further; we could hear the ground rumbling as if there was an earthquake. But we kept going.

After a while, we came across a tree house. We were curious, so I opened the door and we went inside.

As we stepped in together, we had a shock.

It was a mythical place with dinosaurs roaming around everywhere.

Some were on land, in the water, and up in the air. They were gigantic and tiny, mostly scary and some funny.

My sister cried, my brother screamed, my father turned pale and my mother was panic stricken. I felt like fainting.

I bravely approached a dinosaur and stretched out my hand. The dinosaur lowered its head and I pet it.

We soon found out that the dinosaurs were harmless and we got to ride on them. It was so much fun!

We wanted to inform archaeologists about this marvellous place but decided to keep it a secret instead.

Now, we had another problem. None of us wanted to walk home because our legs were really tired. We groaned at the thought of walking back to our car. Suddenly, a pterodactyl swooped us up and flew into midair. We screamed as it was a terrifying ride that made us dizzy.

Soon, we got home. But then my dad got the craziest idea. “’Let’s keep this big guy,’’ he said, pointing to the dinosaur and storeroom.

Our friendly dinosaur lives in the storeroom now. We have named him Terry. He helps us scare away trick-or-treaters during Halloween, leaving us more candy! – By Alyson Wong Yan, 11.
