Sparkling celebrations at the Starling
IT is Starling’s second Christmas and the mall has pulled out all the stops to deliver a spectacular experience for the whole family.
All-day-fun: Sesame Street and festive performance
It will be sweet memories for parents and a memorable event for kids as characters from the classic educational television show Sesame Street, which first aired in 1969 and is into its 48th season this year, come to live at the Starling.
The Starling’s main atrium is transformed into a full-blown Sesame Street Christmas Garden. It has presents for kids, rows of glittering Christmas trees, a train, giant fun slides and a beautiful stage for some unforgettable theatre and carolling.
Kids will get a full day of free passes to Sesame Street Playland, sand art, colouring, games and workshops.
There will also be free instant photo giveaway daily on the green screen (first come first serve basis).
Catch the witty Elmo and the grubby Cookie Monster as they put on a scintillating show on Dec 16, 17, 22 to 25 at 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 7pm at the main stage at ground floor.
Come feel the Christmas spirit with carefully curated shows and performances to entertain and impress.
The opening weekend features The Clavier Academy of Music, presenting “The Nutcracker Christmas” from The Pink Ballet Studio.
The Nutcracker is one of the nostalgic ballets of Russian composer, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The dancers, from eight to 12 years of age, will dance to the tunes of the sugar plum fairy, Lovely seeds princess, Russian princess and Dolly dress up.
Internationally acclaimed Dithryrambic Singers, who have graced the halls of Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, and toured around the globe to cities such as New York City, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Brunei, will embark on a carolling journey with their powerful vocals in traditional choir and acapella every Friday to Sunday, from 8pm to 9pm.
The yuletide cheer will be brought to new heights by the Korean Community, a troupe consisting of 30 children, teenagers and grown-ups.
Do not miss out on Sri Dasmesh Pipe Band, which made history by being the first Malaysian pipeband to have performed in Scotland. Witness their bravura on Dec 9 at 3.30pm.
Kuala Lumpur Pipes and Drums will also join the bandwagon on Dec 17, 23 and 25, from 2.30pm to 2.50pm. Weekdays are not without its sparkles as well. The Starling will feature Jazz Combo from Urban Tribes Music for live jazz band to keep the lunch and dinner crowd warm and fuzzy.
Glorious food
Of course, this being Christmas in Malaysia, the celebration is not complete without food.
With over 40 unique food and beverage outlets to choose from, customers can enjoy Christmas promotion sets, Thanks Giving dinner, Christmas buffet and even Chinese Tang Yuen lunch set.
Check out acclaimed food and beverage outlets such as Bonfire Restaurant & Bar, Nicsmann, Vine Café, Red Kettle, Two Sons Bistro, Nam Heong restaurant and Tang Room.
Foodie’s Nest, the food hall newly opened at the third floor, adds more gastronomic choices to cater to the crowd.
