Unfolding the art of origami
SOLELUNA’S Aury collection adds sparkles to the Japanese art of paper folding.
The practice of paper folding started much earlier in both China and Europe but it was the Japanese who kick started a renaissance to this art form, which led to the birth of the popular term – origami.
This centuries-old art combines various folding and sculpting techniques to form intricate designs of popular models such as the Japanese crane, airplane, boat, animals, butterfly and even flowers.
The intriguing process of turning a flat piece of paper into a three-dimensional model inspired DeGem to develop a diamond fashion jewellery collection under its Soleluna brand that pays tribute to the art of origami.
By combining mathematical rules with creativity, DeGem brings together a collection that features the famous paper planes, boats, rabbits, swans and unique geometrical patterns that are stylish and chic. Brilliant diamonds and glistening gold form the folded patterns of the jewellery that is available in necklaces, rings, and earrings.
The collection name Aury is inspired by the word ori, which means fold in Japanese.
“Diamond fashion jewellery now goes beyond just simple, classic designs. At DeGem, we constantly innovate to bring in elements of surprise, versatility, uniqueness and style in our collections, using real diamonds and gold in various hues such as elegant white, warm rose and canary yellow that brings value to our customers,” said DeGem senior marketing manager, Leow Mei Fui.
The new Soleluna Aury collection is now available at all DeGem boutiques from RM600 onwards.
