A new year, a new adventure

Merdeka to watch the fireworks. This year, I can’t wait to hear the New Year speech from our Prime Minister.”

“Next year, my resolution is to keep my house clean and tidy,” vows Natalie Ang XinYan, six.

Nine-year-old Chang Zhi En writes, “In 2018, I will venture into a lot of new territorie­s. I will be a prefect in my school, and I will be taking music lessons at a new centre, with a new teacher.

“I will be in Year Four in 2018, and I hope to do well in school.

“I hope 2018 will be good to me. And I hope my family will do well too, health-wise and financiall­y.”

“To start the new year, I will bake some cookies – which I like to do – and give them to my friends when I start school next year. Last year, I baked cupcakes and gave some to my neighbours and family members,” says Jenna Elle de Run, seven.

Melany Lee, six, says, “I wish to make new friends when I go to primary school. I will study hard and do my best. I hope to get new toys to play with during New Year.”

Nine-year-old Sarah Celina bids 2017 a fond adieu. “I wish for everyone to have a happy and blessed 2018. May we work together to learn from the past and make the New Year special.”

Erin Sonia Colin, eight, says, “I like to celebrate the coming new year. My hope is that 2018 will be a great year.”

Rhianne Reisha Abhishegam, 11, declares, “This is a new year, a new beginning, and things may all change! Happy New Year, and may 2018 be a good and fruitful year for everyone!”

Landmarks or monuments usually have historical significan­ce or perhaps a unique design.

They are considered the pride of a nation, such as the Eiffel Tower in France, the Big Ben in London, the Taj Mahal in India and our very own Petronas Twin Towers right here in Kuala Lumpur.
