Training future doctors and dentists
MELAKA-Manipal Medical College (MMMC) celebrated its 20 years in Malaysia in 2017 and has become a “most-favoured” institution for top draw medical education in and around Malaysia. It was the third private medical school established in Malaysia and has, since its inception, delivered highly proficient medical professionals to the Malaysian health system and across the globe.
MMMC embarked on its flagship MBBS in 1997 and then launched the exceedingly popular Dentistry degree (BDS) in 2009. These programmes were followed by the pre-university level Foundation in Science (FiS) in 2012. All programmes are fully accredited.
Scholarships are now being offered by MMMC for students who wish to pursue its FiS in 2018. Realising that financial assistance for students in pre-university programmes are virtually non-existent, MMMC’s scholarships are considered for 2017 SPM/O-Levels school-leavers with just 5As, as long as the student meets statutory entry requirements.
The favourable terms and conditions augur well for Foundation applicants who wish subsequently to pursue their passion for medicine or dentistry.
SPM school-leavers who wish to follow the noble vocation of healing and fret that finance may be a difficulty are invited to call MMMC to get more details on its scholarships and programmes.
What makes MMMC such an iconic institution is its commitment to imparting quality education, mindful that its graduates will be dealing with human lives.
Despite its extensive stay in the forefront of education in Malaysia, MMMC aims to continue providing quality medical and dental education.
This dedication goes a long way in explaining the accolades MMMC has received on its fascinating two-decade journey.
Tributes include being the first private institution to be granted a five-year accreditation by MQAMoHE Joint Technical Committee for its MBBS way back in 2009.
In 2011, it was awarded the Brandlaureate Superbrand Best in Education – Medicine and was accorded six stars in various categories in 2011 and 2013 in the MoHE’s My Quest rating of private colleges.
MMMC’s MBBS needs very little introduction as it has been around since the late 90s. Its alumni are found practising their calling, very successfully too, all the way from the US, across Europe and Asia to the lands down under. This is attributed to the intense and expert training students at Melaka-Manipal receive.
The BDS programme is such a lure that seats are taken up 18 months ahead of its intake. If one wishes to enrol for this exceedingly popular dental surgery undergraduate programme, the only way is via MMMC’s homegrown FiS.
FiS students are offered places for the BDS programme before external candidates are considered.
The FiS has turned out to be hugely popular. At its launch in 2012, MMMC was the first to include medicine and dentistry subjects in its Foundation curriculum with the view of introducing students to the basics of subjects they would face in their eventual preferred degree programmes to help them settle down faster.
The scholarships now being offered would definitely be an incentive for students concerned about finances.
