One step closer to a dream career

-

CHOOSING to study at the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) means you will graduate with more than a degree.

You will be ready to progress in the profession of your choice and take on the challenges of your chosen career.

The APU foundation (pre-university) programme is designed to help those with SPM, O-Levels or similar qualifications to develop the skills and knowledge to progress into the first year of degree.

The APU foundation programme

The APU foundation programme offers a common first semester, enabling you the option and flexibility to explore your interests during this period.

You then select the routes that may lead you to accounting and finance, business and management, computing and technology, design innovation and brand management, animation and visual effects, creative media technology, international studies and sustainability, engineering and journalism degrees.

Upon choosing the routes (business and finance, computing and technology, engineering, design, creative media and international studies), you will be introduced to fundamental modules that will prepare you to join the APU degree programmes.

A wide selection of Bachelor’s Honours degrees are offered through APU and Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology.

Students in the APU foundation programme learn within a globalised environment together with peers from over 110 countries.

Students are immersed in a multi-cultural interaction and discourse, from which international understanding and respect are promoted within the context of formal learning.

The lessons incorporate activities that build confidence such as public speaking and presentations during tutorials; enhance personal skills and team-building such as group activities, mini-projects and debates; and reflective thinking such as Q&A, lesson feedback and learning portfolio.

The APU School of Foundation Studies provides a cohesive support system consisting of (among others) programme leader and academic administrators to assist in academic matters, a personal counsellor to help in non-academic matters and student ambassadors who will provide assistance as peers.

Upon completion of the programme, students may pursue one of several degree programmes at APU or apply to transfer to partner universities overseas.

APU dual degree programmes

APU offers dual degree programmes through a unique collaborative partnership with Staffordshire University, United Kingdom, through which Staffordshire accredits undergraduate programmes that are designed and delivered by APU.

Upon graduating, students will be awarded two undergraduate degree certificates and transcripts – one from APU and one from Staffordshire University.

The programme also provides students with enhanced opportunities for further study and career development, as well as the chance to gain locally and internationally recognised degrees from Malaysian and UK higher education institutions.

Professional yet fun environment Professional behaviour is embedded early, no exception to APU foundation students. The students are required to dress in formal wear for classes and through this, they act the part as professional and well-groomed learners.

Apart from academic pursuits, they are encouraged to participate in clubs, societies and special-interest-groups on campus.

The activities range from sports competitions, charity bazaars, cultural events, homestays and community engagement to business ideas, software design and development, as well as building robots or energy-efficient vehicles.

Those interested to have “work” experience may apply for part-time job on campus after completing one full semester of study.
