BACK in 2008, no one could escape the catchy Low by rapper Flo Rida featuring the magic of T-Pain’s Auto-Tune voice.

Released on Oct 9, 2007, Low was Flo Rida’s debut single. It made it to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 on Jan 5, 2008, and hung on to the No. 1 spot for a mind-blowing 10 weeks.

You may remember the line “Apple Bottom jeans” in the song which refers to a clothing line designed by rapper Nelly.

Low received a Grammy award nomination for Best Rap Song in 2009.

It was also used in the award-winning comedy Tropic Thunder, in which Tom Cruise’s Les Grosman character dances to the song. In an interview with the St.

Louis Post Dispatch in 2017, Flo Rida described the success of Low as the result of patience, passion and creativity.

“I recall being in the studio in Miami with guys I look up to like Rick Ross. It was really late at night. The track (Low) went to various artistes first. Within an hour, I finished the record.

“This record pulled me into the whole international works of music. It’s organic to who I am,” he said.

He is amazed and thankful for how the song has brought him worldwide fame.

“You can go to some countries where people may not be able to converse with you, but they can sing your lyrics word for word.” –
