An open day to remember

-

FOR those who wonder how exciting and fulfilling an engineering career can be, take the opportunity to visit the University of Southampton’s (UoS) Malaysian campus during its open day on Jan 27, from 10am-2pm at the Educity Development in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

Unique opportunities

The UoS Malaysian campus has prepared a series of workshops for students interested to pursue a career in engineering.

Students and parents are invited to participate in the open day event, which is packed with presentations and free engineering workshops.

The programme aims to inspire and counsel youngsters on the opportunities and rewards of being an engineer in this fast-changing world.

Visitors can receive information from members of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) about careers in engineering, skills needed in the job market as well as academic routes into professional engineering.

The event is open to pre-university students in SPM, O-Levels, A-Levels, IB diploma, UEC, MUFEY, STPM and matriculation.

Activities aplenty

Students can also meet with the academic staff, alumni and current students, as well as enjoy free engineering workshops on flight simulation, soldering, laser cutting, 3D printing, and more.

They will also receive professional counsel at the IMechE careers information booth and have the chance to take the free shuttle service to check out the facilities at Educity.

Aside from the free engineering workshops, parents and students can ask questions and speak with the lecturers and graduates about the university’s engineering programmes and scholarships, among others.

This way, both parents and students will have a better and clearer idea of what it is like to pursue education at the UoS Malaysian campus.
