Driving Malaysia’s top achievers in law

-

FOR the elite Bachelor of Law programme from the University of London, Advance Tertiary College (ATC) holds the top three academic achievers in Malaysia.

Its top achiever An Gel Siah is currently pursuing her studies at King’s College London after receiving the 2017 Malaysian Law Scholarship for scoring the highest marks in the world.

Second in Malaysia, Cassandra Oh Wan Yee shared why ATC was the right choice for her.

A top scholar in both A-Levels and Bachelor of Law, Oh has been with ATC since A-Levels and now stands as one of the top three academic achievers for the programme in Malaysia.

Oh joined ATC for her A-Levels two years ago with the advice from a student adviser at ATC.

She eventually developed an interest in law, which motivated her to study for Bachelor of Law (University of London).

“The first reaction from people who found out I’m studying law is that I must memorise so much. In reality, while there is a need to memorise, understanding things in their context makes it easier. In this way, when you begin writing, your answers straight away flow on paper,” explained Oh.

As a top scholar in A-Levels, she puts pressure on herself and hence, tends to be nervous before examinations.

Oh allocates certain hours to revise each subject every week and carries out systematic revisions.

ATC has a tradition of providing intensive revision period starting from February, as the examinations take place in May.

Revision each day lasts for at least seven hours, along with reading and assignments.

Although it can be stressful, the lecturer’s rigorous methods yield success in the long run.

After becoming part of the top

With ATC’s affordable programmes, I’m glad to be living the future I have always dreamed of.

three achievers in Year 1, Oh received an e-mail from the University of London, awarding her a fee waiver and the Jim Stephens Memorial Scholarship as encouragement.

She believes that with dedication and continued perseverance, anyone can achieve scores as high.

According to Oh, the campus’ boutique size is one the reasons to study law at ATC.

Comfortable learning environment

It made the campus more compact and cosy, creating a comfortable environment for students.

Coming from a middle class, single-parent family, cost was also an important factor for Oh.

“With ATC’s affordable programmes, I’m glad to be living the future I have always dreamed of,” she said.

ATC continues nurturing high-achieving students, as the best performing law school in the region.

At ATC, students’ needs are catered to in the best way possible while creating a more closeknit and comfortable environment for students and lecturers.
