Team Secret
Dota Pro Circuit points: 4,260 Estimated total earnings: US$5,384,080 (RM21mil)
Formed in 2014, Team Secret is currently one of the revered contenders in the Dota 2 scene. Though the team has yet to win its first The International – the leading
Dota 2 tournament with the largest prize pool – fans believe that Team Secret is well on its way to clinch the title this year.
The five-member force is known for its tenacious gaming style, and emerged victorious in several high-profile tournaments last year, including the Captains Draft 4.0 and DreamLeague Season 8. It was the runner up at the ESL One Hamburg 2017 and finished in the ninth to 12th spot in The International 2017.
Currently, Team Secret is ranked first on the Dota 2 Pro Circuit standings, well on its way to secure a direct invite to the prestigious The International 2018 in Seattle, United States.
The team has undergone several changes in the line up over the years, but it is currently made up of Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard (Denmark), Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng (Malaysia), Adrian “Fata” Trinks (Germany), Yazied “YapzOr”
Jaradat (Jordan) and Clement “Puppey” Ivanov (Estonia).
“Playing in a team is not always easy because you have to deal with people who have different temperaments. What makes it work is understanding each other and moving forward as a team despite the differences,” said Yeik.
“We are all in this for the same reason, to be the best at what we do.”
Yeik is also one of the top Dota 2 players in the Pro Circuit with 1,420 points. He has been part of Team Secret since 2016, and travels between Estonia – where the team trains – and his hometown in Kuala Lumpur almost every month.
“There are many perks that come with being a professional Dota 2 player, but you also have to know that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get to where we are today and stay there,” he said.
