This China-based team took the Dota 2 world by storm in 2014, belying its name and beating many established teams to win The International that year. The team consists of players Xu “Moogy” Han (China), Song “Sccc” Chun (China, pic), Damien “kpii” Chok (Australia), Hu “Kaka” Liangzhi (China) and Zeng “Faith” Hongda (China).

Team Newbee is one of the strongest

Dota 2 teams to emerge from Asia, and is known for the strategic takedowns of its opponents.

It is also one of the teams that actively participates in Dota 2 tournaments around the world, never missing an opportunity to showcase its talents and bring home glory.

Team Newbee won the ESL One Genting 2018 but victory didn’t come easy for the players. It had to face its nemesis Team Liquid, which denied it The International title last year.

In fact, it was the first time Team Newbee had defeated Team Liquid in any tournament, prompting Song to announce on stage that the curse had finally been lifted.

Last year, Team Newbee won the Perfect World Masters Galaxy Battles and Zotac Cup Masters, besides finishing second in several other tournaments, including the ESL

One Genting 2017.

“We believe in hard work and that’s why we put in many hours of training to prepare for tournaments. Even when we are not training, we are thinking of ways to do better as players. In Dota 2, the time you put is reflected in your performance,” said Song.

“It is really important to stay focused and not be distracted by petty things when you’re playing. Your mental capacity is just as important as your skills in Dota 2 , but I believe that it’s the case no matter what game you’re into.”
