Formed in 2012, the China-based team first competed in Dota tournaments before transitioning to Dota 2. Team Vici Gaming has had many ups and downs since its formation, although in recent months, it has been proving itself to be a top contender in tournaments.

The team has been finishing mostly in third or fourth places, although it did come second at the recent Captains Draft 4.0, as well as the Perfect World Masters and AMD Sapphire Dota PIT League last year. Its biggest victory so far is taking home the second prize at The International 2014. But don’t underestimate the team, says member Lu “Fenrir” Chao (China, pic).

“We are very sure that our fans can see that we have been putting a lot of effort to improve our gaming style and rise up the ranks. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and Team Vici Gaming is not taking a shortcut either.”

Chao was handpicked by Team Vici Gaming owners in 2017, and said that his career in Dota 2 came as a surprise even to himself.

“I was just playing Dota 2 at home when I was approached by the organisation. Now I see that playing the game as a hobby and playing the game as a career are two different things. There is a market for eSports right now and it is an ever-growing industry. I hope that more young people would take up this opportunity to find a viable career with Dota 2.”

Currently, the team is also made up of Zhang “Paparazi” Chengjun (China), Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang (China), Ren “eLeVeN” Yangwei (China), and Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng (China).
