Proenza Schouler’s fragrant escape

-

NEW York fashion label Proenza Schouler is getting into the fragrance game with the launch of its debut scent, Arizona.

Inspired by the road trips taken by the label’s founders Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez into the Arizona desert, the fragrance is described by the brand as a “radiant eau de parfum.” Created together with L’Oreal, it features white cactus flower accord and creamy orris accord and has a unique mineral signature. “Arizona is a feeling of adventure, a state of mind,” explains the brand in a statement.

“Our trips out West really informed our storytelling,” McCollough told Vogue.co. uk in an interview. “It’s that feeling of disconnecting and getting closer to nature. That’s why the name – it’s not about Arizona as a state so much as a state of mind, that feeling of escape.”

The bottle, too, references the environment that influenced the scent _ comprising a glass vial that echoes the ravines, ridges and faceted rocks of the Sonoran Desert.

The move is the latest evolution of the Proenza Schouler label, which was founded in 2002 by McCollough and Hernandez, and has made a name for itself thanks to its contemporary womenswear with a youthful, laidback edge. Last fall the brand also launched a secondary, more accessible line titled “Proenza Schouler White Label.” – AFP Relaxnews
