ON top of his duty as a series regular on The Big Bang Theory (TBBT), Jim Parsons is also doing narration work for its spin-off Young Sheldon. In an interview with Parade, Parsons shares this added responsibility hasn’t been taxing at all: “I can do anywhere from three to seven episodes in a 45-minute period. Even in a heavy episode, it’s maybe seven lines. It’s so much fun though, because there’s an odd amount of pressure that’s just gone. You don’t have to memorise it, there’s not that much to do, and it’s so fun when you try to sync it up.” The eccentric, socially awkward Sheldon Cooper (played by Parsons) is such a popular character on TBBT, spinoff Young Sheldon was created, chronicling the early life of the theoretical physicist. On the TBBT front, Parsons talks about how his character’s upcoming wedding with neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) is changing him. “We’ve had several different episodes where Amy’s coaching him in the ways of being empathetic. We’re working on an episode right now, where he realises that she doesn’t do certain things that she wants to do because she knows how he’ll react to it. And he doesn’t like it. He starts trying to work on not complaining about what she wants – and it lasts for a couple of pages.” – Kenneth Chaw
