One Top Achiever, second in Malaysia, Cassandra Oh Wan Yee, a top scholar in both A-Levels as well as her concurrent Bachelor of Laws has been with ATC since A-Levels and now stands as one of the Top 3 Academic Achievers for the programme in Malaysia.
She shares: “To be honest, I had no clue my grades were going to be as good as they turned out to be – I guess I might have my lecturers to thank for that, too. Prior to the exam, I felt like I hadn’t prepared enough, so when the results came out, I was genuinely surprised. I would allocate hours for each subject for revision every week and carry out systematic revision, but I tend to procrastinate quite a bit.
“ATC has a tradition whereby, since May is exam time, starting from February we go through an intensive revision period every day for seven hours at least, along with daily reading and assignments. Our lecturers often push us to our limits, since they know our potential, even if we ourselves didn’t.
“Soon after I managed to be a part of the Top 3 Achievers in Year 1, the University of London, awarded me a fee waiver and the Jim Stephens Memorial Scholarship. I’m starting Year 2 with ATC now, so I’ll see how it goes in the next exams, come May,” she adds.
Oh is aiming to be a lawyer, but at the same time is glad that having studied law would allow her to branch into a variety of careers as well and keep her options open.
She says: “I believe that with dedication and continued perseverance – and less procrastinating, anyone can achieve scores as high as mine.”
Oh shares her experience at ATC, “On my first visit, I was definitely a bit wary due to its boutique size. However, I discovered this made the campus cosy and created a very comfortable environment. It also helped maintain good one-on-one relationships with our lecturers.
“ATC also offers trial classes and after sitting in for a couple I knew this was the college for me. Moreover, the cost was an important factor and with ATC’s affordable programmes, I’m glad to be receiving the future I have always dreamed of.”
