Putting pen to paper
ENGLISH language – or more specifically, English language writing is a skill needed by all students and professionals looking to be successful in their academic and professional careers.
Students write essays and reports to present their ideas, research findings and analysis in the most convincing way possible. Needless to say, writing is an important skill required for further studies. Professionals draft proposals, plans and e-mails to convey key messages for the benefit of their company. All these major tasks are carried out almost daily by both students and professionals and yet, many lack the ability to effectively write in English.
In schools, teachers are challenged with motivating students to write and many students find writing an unpleasant activity that takes a lot of time. This is changing and ELS Language Centres are pioneering this shift by introducing a writing programme that is social, engaging and rewarding.
The ELS Advanced Writing Programme (AWP) aims to help secondary school students (16-18 years old) develop competence and confidence in their writing ability.
Developed around interesting current topics and events, this programme focuses on building strong language and literacy skills to help students write compelling and expressive essays.
Developing writing abilities
The programme features writing practice in a variety of genres and styles. Students will also get to explore ideas and concepts to hone good academic writing skills. This internationally accredited writing programme has already benefited thousands through its unique teaching and learning methodology.
Classes begin on March 31 and will be held every Saturday at ELS Language Centres and applicable to both national and international (or private) school students.
In celebration of its 28th year in Malaysia, ELS will award a limited number of scholarships to students joining this innovative programme. Visit http://www.els.edu.my/ AWPscholarship to apply.
