Hard work pays off for law student
ADVANCE Tertiary College (ATC) is one of the oldest private law schools in the region, and its objective has always been to offer a viable education platform to a world-class legal qualification.
ATC mainly provides the University of London’s Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree programme. This 3+0 course enables undergraduates to study locally yet graduate with a credible international legal qualification from “the very first university that offered English Law” – the University of London.
“Attaining an LLB degree through the University of London International programmes is indeed a prestigious achievement. It has helped launch many of our graduates into building successful careers,” observed ATC chief executive officer and principal, Dr Danny Choong.
In the recent LLB examinations in May 2017, Siah An-Gel from ATC KL won the Malaysian Laws Scholarship. Also known as the King’s Scholarship which is awarded yearly by the University of London to any Malaysian student who scores the highest marks in Year One of the LLB. Siah will be completing the remaining two final years of her degree at King's College London.
Siah scored 3As in the A-Levels and was then convinced to pursue her LLB degree with ATC.
“I chose ATC because I was attracted to its internal merit-scholarship scheme. This gave me the impression that this institute prioritises quality education. Thereafter, my time in ATC has been great.”
As a King’s Scholar today, Siah attributes her remarkable achievement primarily to her mother, “Thank you for your everlasting love and support. You inspired me to be the best that I can be.”
Hard-working and humble, Siah remains indebted to her lecturer, Daniel Gan, saying, “Without your guidance since A-Levels, I would not have had the motivation to push myself to the limits.”
She also thanks her other lecturers. “Thank you all for your dedication and for teaching me to see things from differing perspectives and to keep an open mind.”
The LLB March intake is currently in progress.
