Reward for excellence
IT was indeed a proud day for five students from HELP University’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting (FBEA) when they were declared recipients of the 2017 Affin-Hwang Scholarship Award.
Khoo Shun Xuan, Yeo Han Yee, Loke Mun Hon, Wong Tsok Linn and Lee Pei Ern each received a bursary of RM10,000 in addition to a two-month paid internship at AffinHwang Asset Management and upon completion of the internship, the opportunity of being employed.
At the award ceremony, Affin-Hwang Asset Management chief operating officer, Peggy Liew said this year’s recipients were selected based on academic performance and co-curricular activities.
During the interview sessions, the FBEA students were also assessed on their ability to carry themselves with confidence while answering questions.
Peggy said the FBEA interns who were finally selected upon completion of their internship to work at Affin-Hwang Asset Management had proven their ability to work to a high level of professionalism.
FBEA senior lecturer Gooi Chee San also shared that Affin-Hwang Asset Management is recognised as being a long-term corporate partner of HELP University that provides and continues to provide financial aid and internship to HELP University’s needy business students.
FBEA Department of Business Studies deputy head Liew Huey Min said, “Affin-Hwang Asset Management has been very supportive and generous towards HELP University over the last 10 years and receiving this award is further recognition of our students’ outstanding performance not only academically but also with emphasis on the importance of co-curricular activities.”
