Sherlock Gnomes
SHERLOCK Gnomes is an unexpectedly interesting, enthralling, intense, and a ridiculously riveting joyride of family-fun mystery. Despite – or maybe because – of the oddness it brings with it!
This animated comedy sequel to the 2011 Gnomeo &
Juliet has both old and new characters on an escapade beyond the lawn.
The sequel builds progressively upon its predecessor’s loose Romeo And Juliet theme while launching into a genuinely stimulating Holmesian mystery-driven treasure-hunt plot. The gnomic versions of Sherlock, Watson, Gnomeo and Juliet investigate gnome disappearances around London in a cunning race against time, mind and mettle.
The plot may seem subpar, simplistic and slow initially, but everything proves to be, well, far from elementary.
The film proffers some neatly startling twists and turns with an exciting final showdown, nicely balancing its humour and action with dark, perilous moments.
The film explores surprisingly profound character traits, and chemistry, conflict, dynamics and development between its focal point characters (amid some of their perhaps quirky exteriors).
With superb visuals, music and celebrity voice acting,
Sherlock Gnomes is easy to enjoy, especially if you are a Sherlock Holmes or Elton John fan to begin with!
