VOLKSWAGEN has updated the sporty Golf line-up consisting the entry-level Golf in Sportline and R-Line trims, the iconic Golf GTI and performance-driven Golf R.

They are priced at RM155,990 (Sportline); RM169,990 (R-Line); RM239,990 (Golf GTI) and RM295,990 (Golf R).

The new Golf is sold with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty, 3-year free maintenance, and 5-year roadside assistance.

Under the hood of both Golf variants is a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged engine that is paired with a 7-speed dry clutch direct shift gearbox (DSG), producing 150PS and a 250Nm of torque.

The Golf has 60:40 folding rear seats and a 380-litre rear cargo space, which can be expanded to 1,270 litres with the rear seats folded.

It has Manoeuvre Braking, which helps to automatically brake the car when it senses objects up to 10kph to minimise all those dings and minor scuffs during parking.

There’s also Automatic Post Collision Brake System, which triggers automatic (emergency) braking down to a vehicle speed of 10kph, once an initial collision has been detected.

The Golf in Sportline trim gets seven airbags, 16-inch wheels, fabric seats, automatic headlights, LED tailights, an 8-inch touchscreen, eight audio speakers, and AppConnect smartphone connectivity (MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto).

Extra kit on Golf in R-Line trim are LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, leather seats, keyless access and ignition, a 12.3-inch high definition Active Info Display, Driving Mode Selection with Eco Function, and a rear view camera system.

Meanwhile, on the ultimate hot hatch, the Golf GTI features a 2.0litre TSI turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed wet clutch DSG producing an impressive 230PS and 350Nm of torque.

Equipment on the Golf GTI includes 18-inch alloy wheels, Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) with driving mode selection, a 12-way powered driver seat, LED headlights with Dynamic Cornering Lights, and Dynamic Light Assist (DLA) advanced light beam control.

As for the Golf R performance powerhouse, it has a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine giving an impressive output of 290PS and 380Nm of torque paired with a 7-speed wet clutch DSG.

Power is transferred via 4Motion all-wheel drive system.

Extra kit on the Golf R includes 19-inch wheels, progressive steering, a 10GB Jukebox and Gesture Control.
