X2 debuts
BMW Group Malaysia aims to shake-up the compact premium crossover segment by introducing the X2 sDrive20i M Sport. The X2 costs RM320,800 with GST without insurance and will be made available in four different colours of Galvanic Gold Metallic, Misano Blue Metallic, Sunset Orange Metallic (with Black interior and contrasting Grey seams) as well as Black Sapphire (with exclusive Magma Red interior and contrasting Grey seams).
The X2 features a 2.0-litre (1,998cc) turbocharged engine with 192hp and 280Nm of torque.
It also comes with three driving modes of Comfort, ECO PRO and Sport mode.
A Performance Control system is also available, which allows engine control and brake intervention during cornering.
Power is managed by a seven-speed Steptronic sport dualclutch transmission that helps it accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 7.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 227kph.
The wheels are 19-inch M light alloy double-spoke style 715 M fitted with 225/45 run-flat tyres.
The X2 also comes with a M Sport suspension system that lowers the ride-height by 10mm as well as a M rear spoiler, satinated aluminium roof rails, matching side sill covers and Dark Shadow inserts.
The front is fitted with LEDs for the fogs, automatic headlights and 3D-icon daytime running lights.
Inside, the cabin features six ambient light colours (Orange, Lilac, Mint, Bronze, Blue and White) for choice as well as a black panel instrument cluster and information display.
Additionally, the headliner uses anthracite from BMW Individual, while the seats use perforated Dakota leather.
Also, the door sills and leather steering wheel have both been branded with a ‘M’.
Furthermore, the cabin has been equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air blower, keyless access with pushstart button, hands-free boot (4701,355-litre) and powered front sports seats with memory function and a driver’s full-colour head-up display.
For entertainment, there’s a 100watt amplifier for the six-speaker (including two bass speakers) sound system that’s managed by an 8.8-inch split-view touchscreen display with navigation, BMW ConnectedDrive services (Intelligent Emergency Call, Teleservices, Concierge Services, BMW Online and BMW Remote Services), Bluetooth and USB port, with Extended Smartphone Connectivity and Radio.
For safety, the X2 has been equipped with six airbags, antilock braking system, dynamic traction control, dynamic brake control, electronic differential lock control, flat-tyre monitoring system and ISOFIX anchor points.
“The BMW X models have long made its mark in Malaysia. Last year alone, we delivered over 4,200 BMW X Series vehicles, equating to 39.6% of BMW’s deliveries of 10,618 vehicles. Today, we’re proud to expand our BMW X portfolio here in Malaysia with the first-ever BMW X2,” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director and CEO Harald Hoelzl.
