Laneige has created a clever 2-in-1 cushion foundation that makes it super easy to cover blemishes.
TO inspire this South Korean beauty brand to create its next new product, it went straight to its customers for ideas.
“We conducted a study on skincare habits, makeup styles and behaviours of women when it comes to their beauty routine. What we found was that women love to layer their products and mix them as well,” says Camiellia Choo, assistant training manager for Laneige.
“Some love to apply a bit of everything on their face every morning, from a makeup base, primer, concealer to their foundations and it all goes towards achieving a flawless and natural finish,” Choo adds.
From the study, Choo announced that the brand created the Laneige Layering Cover Cushion, a cushion foundation makeup product that let’s you layer and gives you a natural and flawless complexion easily.
According to the brand, it is set to become the most desired makeup essential for women.
This new layering cushion is now designed with complete makeup benefit formulated to give you the perfect coverage with longer durability and a moist semi-matte finishing.

Cover Cushion is a
2-in-1 cushion foundation that comes with a perfectly paired concealing base and a layering cushion formulated for high coverage.
Choo explains that the Concealing Base – which is applied first to conceal any blemishes – is formulated with Aqua Melting Technology in a balm-like texture. Its porous powder absorbs excess sebum, offering a semi-matte finishing for lasting makeup.
“The Layering Cover Cushion contains illuminating Jewel Powder made out of fine pearls to give skin a pink lighting effect. It also contains lychee skin extracts, a strong anti-oxidant that calms and protects the skin to keep it healthy and hydrated.
“It comes with a special applicator, the Edge Puff, which is designed in the shape of a water drop. Its upper triangular area is made out of Velvet Puff to pick up the Concealing Base to be used on areas under the eyes and sides of the nose. The lower part of the puff is made out of Air Puff for applying the foundation.
“It comes in eight shades but locally we will be carrying five shades. Its beautiful rose gold packaging represents the rosiness of your complexion when you apply this layering cushion,” Choo says.
The brand flew in South Korean model-actress Lee Sungkyung – the K-drama sweetheart who won many hearts with her first lead role in Weightlifting Fairy – for the launch. Lee had to gain weight to play Kim Bok-joo, an Olympic weightlifting champion based on the real life story of Olympic weightlifting champion Jang Mi-ran.
The lanky 176cm actress has a flawless complexion and she says “all year round I keep my face hydrated and I also love using the Laneige Fresh Calming toner to calm my skin”.
When Lee is not filming she says she still takes care of her skin and body well, and spends a lot of time working out.
“When I’m not shooting, I prefer looking natural so the Laneige Layering Cover Cushion fits me perfectly. I love the beautiful packaging and 2-in-1 convenience. The concealer covers blemishes and offers a very matte finishing before I layer on the foundation,” she says.

Her upcoming drama is About Time, a fantasy romance on tvN, where she plays a professional musical actress who can see a person’s lifespan.
