SATURDAY: Soka Gakkai Malaysia is presenting this talk in conjunctio­n with its Month Of Sustainabl­e Developmen­t. The speaker, Benjamin Ong, is an ecologist by training and an explorer at heart. He is the founder of Rimba Project, a campus sustainabi­lity and urban conservati­on initiative based at the University of Malaya’s Rimba Ilmu Botanic Garden. He has also won several awards for his contributi­ons in the field of sustainabi­lity, including the Chevening Environmen­tal Volunteer of the Year award. Time: 3pm-4.30pm. APRIL 27-30: Do you know that there is a diverse range of plants and wildlife in our cities that plays an important role in the ecosystem? To promote urban wildlife and biodiversi­ty conservati­on, Rimba Project is organising the Klang Valley City Nature Challenge (KV CNC), joining 60 cities worldwide in the global City Nature Challenge. The CNC is a mobile app-based competitio­n where people in cities around the world compete to see who can make the most observatio­ns of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people. While the main objective is to document nature where you are (home, school, workplace), it also welcomes participan­ts keen to join the KV CNC organising committee at selected sites on different dates.
