WITH the MisterTyre smartphone app, you get the convenience of changing your car tyres, batteries and engine oil right at your door step, instead of passing your precious time waiting at a car workshop.

Till May 31, Carsifu.my readers get a RM25 discount via a STAR25 promo code (applicable only in the Klang Valley).

The app also offers a best price guarantee, and presently is only for Klang Valley users.

“You will be refunded the price difference, if you provide proof of a lower price elsewhere,” says MisterTyre Malaysia Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Suman Mathevan.

The MisterTyre app can be found at Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

Mathevan says customer benefits from the company’s lower operation costs, as it does not need to keep stocks of tyres, batteries and engine oil.

“Whenever we have orders from customers, we get supplies directly from principals, manufacturers and wholesalers,” he says.

The company carries 26 tyre, eight engine oil and four vehicle battery brands.

It offers services consisting of tyre change and rotation, and front wheel alignment, battery change and engine oil change.

Customers pay in advance via credit card or direct debit, and a mobile van will arrive at customer’s homes to perform the services.

“For high-rise or condominium residents, we have to do it outside the residence as the mobile van is too tall and cannot enter the covered car park structure,” says Mathevan.

Via the app, customers can even track the location of the mobile van as it moves towards their homes - like ride hailing apps Uber and Grab.

“Presently, we have three mobile vans and seven technicians, with 12 to 15 years of vehicle after-sales experience.”

Services are available seven days a week, and bookings can be made from 8am to 10pm.

For tyre rotation, balancing and alignment services, customers need to book at least an hour in advance.

For tyre, battery and engine oil change, customers need to book at least six hours in advance.

“In the near future, we will also offer rim and brake pad changes,” said Mathevan.

Carsifu.my interviewed Mathevan in Bandar Sunway, where 36-year-old businessman Rajiv Nair had used the MisterTyre app to book a change of tyres on his Mazda CX-5.

“It is convenient and user-friendly. I don’t have to waste time going to a car workshop and wait there. I can do my work at home, while my tyres are being changed,” said Nair.

Since the app was launched last September, it has seen 10,000 downloads and 700 jobs done.

“The highest demand is for tyre related services,” says Mathevan. The MisterTyre app was founded by entrepreneur Dennis Melka, who owns a stake in British company Tyres on the Drive which provides tyres and tyre change services via a website.

“As far as we know, we are the first in the world to do this via an app. In Europe, they have thousands of mobile vans providing tyre change services, which are contacted via call centres,” says Mathevan.

There are plans to offer MisterTyre services in Penang and Johor Baru in the near future.

“We are also planning to expand into the Asean region and the United States.”
