“HERIOT-Watt University appealed to me because, compared to other universities, it focuses on courses it is good at,” said Zulaikha Zainul Rizam, a BSc Psychology with Management student at HeriotWatt University Malaysia.

“My degree distinguishes itself from the management and pure psychology courses. It is great for those considering human resources.

“Personally, I feel that my degree has opened up my perspective of other potential careers in business, which I had not considered before. This degree gives me the flexibility to either choose a business-focused career or branch out toward science in the future,” she said.

One of the many things that she loves about the university is the view.

“The view at the Malaysia campus is very breathtaking; it never fails to inspire me to strive for the best,” she enthused.

With three campuses in the UK, one in the UAE and one in Malaysia, Heriot-Watt University is renowned for its global presence and impact.

The university was recently awarded the International University of the Year title by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018, in addition to being ranked 41st in the world for its international outlook by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018.

A prominent provider of professionally oriented education, knowledge transfer and research, Heriot-Watt offers a myriad of programmes at foundation and undergraduate levels.

“The courses in our foundation programmes have been designed to prepare students with the necessary knowledge and skills required to enable them to excel in the undergraduate programmes,” said Assoc Prof Dr Jasmine Low, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia’s Head of Malaysia Foundation Programmes.

“Enrolling in a Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Foundation programme enables students to experience a UK-benchmarked curriculum and UK style of learning and teaching from the start of their studies.

“Students are given early exposure to independent learning and problem-based learning and teaching methods with strong emphasis on English literacy, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills,” she added.

Heriot-Watt University academicians not only work to equip students to face the challenges of the ever-changing world but ultimately provide a platform to launch them toward achieving their ambitions.

When asked if she would recommend the university to others, Zulaikha exclaimed, “I say go for it. Heriot-Watt offers a lot of opportunities. If you’re interested in studying abroad, you may apply for the Go Global programme and transfer to either the UK or Dubai campus.

“In addition, Heriot-Watt lecturers are amazing. I believe my lecturers are very passionate. They put their very best into teaching and are always available whenever you require help.”

To find out more on the university’s foundation and undergraduate programmes, its Go Global campus transfer programme, as well as other programmes or scholarships on offer, visit its campus in Putrajaya during its Open Days on April 21 and 22.
