In 1952, Jos Jullien, a French army doctor who spent his life seeking the perfect healing treatment, cracked the mystery behind the Fountain with the discovery of an extraordinary living ingredient: Life Plankton – trademarked by Biotherm.
With the dream of making Life Plankton available to everyone, Jullien’s works led to the creation of Biotherm, a luxury French skincare brand.
Inspired by Jullien’s ambition, a team of scientists took eight years to recreate the extraordinary natural conditions of the Healing Fountain and developed a unique bio-fermentation process called Fermogenesis.
Over a period of up to 90 days, Life Plankton is slowly processed in a controlled environment, combined with a cocktail of minerals, vitamins, sugars, plant and yeast extract to maximise its potential, allowing Life Plankton to grow 1,000 times faster and concentrated up to 400,000 times more than its natural state.
With this process, Life Plankton is now a completely natural and renewable ingredient that is at the core of Biotherm Life Plankton products.
Recently, at the first Biotherm Healing Summit – under the Asia Microbiome R&D Congress – held in Singapore, the theme was skin and healing.
It focused on major research that has evidenced the link between micro-organisms and skin health, and the brand presented an impressive collection of 100 scientific proofs developed in partnership with renowned research centres that demonstrate Life Plankton’s ability to improve skin, accumulated over a 30-year period.
The brand states that the growing research work in the microbiome industry is set to make waves in the science and medical world through its applications in preventive treatments, therapies, cures and supplements.
Linked to the microbiome concept, the rare Life Plankton is the basal component of all Biotherm formulas and the brand offers over 130 face and body skincare for various skin types and concerns.
