Alternative study path
IGB International School (IGBIS) is a vibrant Early Years to Grade 12 international school that provides a dynamic, innovative and inclusive learning environment, where students are challenged to excel in terms of learning and personal growth.
An International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, IGBIS is the only school in Malaysia authorised for the full continuum of IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP) and career-related Programme (CP).
As the oldest of the IB programmes, the DP is highly regarded and is one of the best preparations for university. Students at IGBIS have consistently performed exceptionally well in the DP.
The CP is an alternative programme aimed at students who prefer a more career-focused approach. As the newest and fastest-growing IB programme, the CP is an innovative education framework for students aged 16 to 19. It provides an excellent foundation to support students beyond Grade 12 and ensure their preparedness for success in the workforce. The CP combines DP courses with an approved career-related study and a unique CP core.
Over the past year, the career-related study option offered at IGBIS has been the Certificate in Finance, Accountancy and Business through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). While it will continue this partnership with ICAEW, it is delighted to expand its options for the coming school year.
IGBIS is now offering an alternate career-related study path in art and design through a partnership between IGBIS and Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong (SCAD).
With this new partnership, CP students can take universitylevel courses while still studying at IGBIS.
They will receive credit for those courses when they move on to university.
Over 20 courses are available, including drawing, design, computer arts, graphic design and sequential art.
IGBIS is the only school in Malaysia to partner with SCAD in this way, making this kind of IB education truly unique. These new CP options, combined with the outstanding facilities, make an IB education at IGBIS an excellent option for students.
