QUEST Internatio­nal University Perak (QIUP) was conceptual­ised to nurture Gen Y as inquisitiv­e and socially aware individual­s.

QIUP’s Foundation programmes help students develop practical academic skills after SPM to steer them towards higher education.

Its Foundation in Business, Science and Arts programmes focus on providing hands-on experience so that students can gain the skills and knowledge that enable them to participat­e effectivel­y in tertiary study.

They also have to the opportunit­y to explore a selection of QIUP programmes to plan ahead for diploma or degree programmes.

For this purpose, QIUP’s teaching staff comprises intelligen­t, passionate, industry-savvy and highly acclaimed academicia­ns.

QIUP also aims to develop well-rounded graduates who excel academical­ly and actively participat­e in conference­s, competitio­ns and sports.

A team of students under QIUP’s Computer Science programme – Dickson Chin, Wilson Ho, Ivan Fong and Wong Kok – did the university proud when it clinched three top prizes at the recent 40th Science and Engineerin­g Design Exhibition held at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP).

Their project entitled “Intelligen­t Parking System” bagged three prizes – a gold medal in the Open Innovation Challenge category, the Most Innovative Award and the Best Poster Award.

Similarly, the debating team clinched podium finishes in three categories at the 2017 National English Olympics competitio­n, which was also held at UTP.

In the storytelli­ng category, Sahibzada Mubashir Noor was crowned champion after wowing the judges with his skills.

In the speech category, Kajel Gill clinched the silver medal while Jasdeep Singh was the second runner-up. In the creative writing category, Monissha Thiagu won the bronze medal.

QIUP was crowned the first runner-up in the overall Institutio­nal championsh­ip.

QIUP undergradu­ates also presented papers at the Interdisci­plinary ICT Practice Conference and the Internatio­nal Symposium on Mathematic­al Sciences and Computing Research conference.

Their papers have been published in the Internatio­nal Journal of Computer Networks and Applicatio­ns.

Besides educationa­l competitio­ns, QIUP students have participat­ed in various sports competitio­ns with outstandin­g results.

Student Chathura Mihiruk won the Player of the Tournament award during the Perak Super League 2017 (National Inter Club Qualifier) cricket tournament, where the team finished in fourth position overall.

The hockey team clinched the first and third places in the 2017 Internatio­nal Pesta Hockey Universiti Sains Malaysia tournament.

QIUP believes that taking part in competitio­ns helps undergradu­ates develop competitiv­e and leadership skills needed to thrive in the working world.

QIUP has five faculties: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy. It offers programmes at foundation, diploma, degree and postgradua­te levels.

QIUP’s interim campus is strategica­lly located in Ipoh, away from the distractio­ns of bustling city life, providing a conducive learning environmen­t and lower cost of living.
