The Star Malaysia - Star2

Up above with the stars

-

I AWOKE to someone calling at me, “Amy, guide me.”

I blinked and my blurred sight focused. I was looking at a girl with glowing silver skin.

Her mesmerising emerald eyes captivated me. Her light golden amber hair tumbled over her narrow shoulders. She was wearing a silver dress.

I opened my mouth to ask her something but the girl spoke first, “My name is Brightflare. I have to return to my world. I need you to guide me outside this house.”

I asked, “Your world? And why do you need me?”

Brightflare spoke quietly, “I am a star. I can only leave this house if you give me permission and accompany me. I am blind like all stars.” I frowned, confused, “Okay, just follow me.”

I took her delicate hand and led her to the front door and brought her out.

Brightflare cast her sightless gaze up, “I feel no stars present to retrieve me. Are you sure we are outside the house?”

I sighed, “Yes, Brightflare. Why are you in my world anyway?”

Brightflare mused, “Oh foolish me. I went to the place where comets practise falling and I accidently fell way too far. I ended up in your house. I can feel a star over there,” she pointed.

Brightflare held my hand and walked towards the edge of the forest.

She gasped, “I can feel Goldenglow!” I watched in amazement and confusion as her body faded abruptly into a dim outline, “Bye, Brightflare, although I have no idea what really happened.”

When I turned around to leave, a slender hand grasped my arm.

Brightflare cried out, “Wait! I cannot leave without you, remember? You must come with me.”

I tried to escape her grip but I felt myself blurring into the wind currents and an invisible force wrenched me out of my world.

Suddenly, there were thousands of lights around me. A golden and silver light drifted over and I heard a whisper, “Thank you, Amy. I’m sorry that you have to live here forever.”

Her melodious voice suddenly went silent, and everything became pitch black.

Then, I heard a distant ring and light entered my sight and I saw my alarm clock rocking back and forth, blaring. It was all a dream, a very magical one. – By Hazel Lim Zhan, 12.
