COMPANIES are reaping the rewards of Permata Pintar’s investment in developing young talents. Employers and colleagues share their testimonials of working with Permata Pintar’s alumni.

Tan Nien Wei graduated from Texas A&M University in 2017.

The Petronas scholar has worked as a researcher in Petronas since he graduated.

“Tan has shown his prowess in research from his induction. He is very industrious and works well with his partner in a project called Fatigue Management. He made the prototype device and tested it for two weeks on the samples.

He managed to get the fatigue data on the samples and monitor it in a short period of time.

“Tan is very committed and always excited about his works/ tasks. He blends well and is able to work collaboratively with his colleagues.

“He has a thinking process ability that enables him to tackle problems.

“When we gave him a problem to solve, he managed to draw the flow chart on how to solve the problem in a very systematic way. We want more of such students from Permata Pintar because they make good researchers and Permata Pintar has these students,” said Dr Shahidah M. Shariff, MD/CEO Petronas Research Sdn Bhd.

Ahmad Asyraf Burhani graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Actuarial Science. He is a Mainframe Programmer at Standard Chartered Global Business Services.

“Asyraf is a very industrious person. He showed very good work ethics and works well with his colleagues from diverse backgrounds and different countries. Even though his background is in actuarial science, he performed well in his work as a computer programmer, managing the Mainframe computer using Cobol programming. He gets on well with all his colleagues and enjoys working with his team tremendously.

“Asyraf has great potential in the banking and computing sector,” says Asyraf’s supervisor Richard Acampo Lim.

Kaveesh Nair graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor in Geophysics.

The Petronas scholar is now an Associate in the Advisory Sector, at Ernst & Young Services Sdn Bhd.

“Kaveesh has the right attitude. He is a fast learner. Although he graduated in the field of geology, he has to learn new skills in finance and develop business acumen at Ernst & Young. He is humble and a good team player. He is very committed and can communicate well at different levels.

“Although Kaveesh is young and new in the financial area, he never fails to contribute meaningful ideas in providing solutions to problems faced by project members.

“Kaveesh always wants to give back to Permata Pintar, and to do so, he developed an app that help his juniors at Permata Pintar revise their studies,” says Kian Boon, Project Manager, Ernst & Young Services Sdn Bhd.
