To our teachers

-

MOST of us have fond memories of our teachers.

We all love the ones who crack jokes and the cikgus who make each lesson enjoyable and colourful.

And of course, we all know the no-nonsense teachers who make sure we follow the rules.

Teachers play an important role because they inspire, ignite the imagination and mould students into responsible citizens.

In celebration of Teachers Day on May 16, here is what our readers have to say about their favourite teachers

“Last month, students of SK Infant Jesus Convent Primary Johor Baru participated in the Asean Cultural and Musical Festival 2018 in Penang. Under the guidance of our patient, understanding and hardworking teachers, we managed to win a gold medal in the competition. We would like to thank them for their commitment and dedication,” says Sarah Celina, nine.

Ten-year-old Dora Chang’s favourite teacher is Cikgu Liew who teaches her Bahasa Malaysia. “Cikgu Liew is truly an extraordinary and awesome teacher. She is a helpful and reliable educator. She teaches us key words to use in our essay writing. She also takes time out to tutor weak students.”

Gideon Immanuel Andrew David, nine, writes: “Vishanantini Maniam is my Bahasa Malaysia tuition teacher. She teaches me patiently. Each time I score good grades in my Bahasa Malaysia exam papers, teacher Visha presents me with small gifts. It makes me happy.”

Younger sibling Bernard Jude Andrew David, seven says: “My favourite teacher is Mr Jeswant Singh. He does not like to take photos. Although Mr Jeswant is strict, his teaching methods are very good.”

My English teacher’s name is Miss Jaya Mary. She is kind and nice,” writes Nurul Aina Mohd Azman Ali, nine.

Tan Xian Jun, nine, says: “Mrs Tan is my English teacher. She’s helpful, kind and does a great job teaching us English. She makes learning so much fun.”

Nine-year-old Chua Zi Xin writes: “Mrs Tan teaches us how to speak good English. Sometimes, she allows us to play games and have snacks in class.”

“My favourite teacher is Mrs Jayamalar. I wish all teachers a Happy Teacher’s Day,” writes Lithigasri Arulkumar, six.
