Getting around Barcelona
IF you’re visiting Barcelona, Spain and wondering how to get around, here are some of the ways to see the sights in the city.
1. On foot
Go for a walk, and get some exercise while exploring the city. Make sure you have a good tourist map. you can get one at the tourist centre, at your hotel, or online.
A lot of the city’s places of interest are within the vicinity of Barcelona old City. If you get tired, take a breather in one of the parks in the area. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and to bring drinking water.
2. Take the ‘subway’
When in Barcelona, do as the locals do. Take their version of the subway which is known as the Metro. It’s an extensive network of rapid transit electrified railway lines that run underground (mostly) throughout the city centre and suburbs.
you can buy individual journey tickets but if you’re taking more than five trips on the Metro (and other public transport), then you might want to consider the T10 ticket which is a travel card. other options are the Barcelona Tourist Card which is a tourist discount-cum-transportation card, for those who are staying longer.
Travelling by Metro is fairly convenient. Be sure to carry a copy of the Metro map so that you can find the correct line easily.
3. Hop-on, hop-off
Make like a bunny, and do the hop-on, hop-off. Take this “ho-ho” bus which lets you hop-on and hop-off as many times as you want from 9am to 7pm in winter and up to 8pm in summer. Tickets start from 14.40 (rM63) for one day. There are two main ho-ho bus services in the city: Barcelona Bus Turistic which offers three different routes (Blue, red, and Green), and Barcelona City Tour which offers two routes (east and West).
To get a better view, you might want to sit on the upper deck. But make sure you’re dressed appropriately for the season.
4. On two wheels
If you’d rather be outdoors, you can cycle around to visit the different places of interest. Barcelona is a cyclist-friendly city with fully-integrated cycle lanes and bicycle parking facilities. you can also rent a bicycle easily.
