THE International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 26 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education, invites prospective students and their parents to its Foundation in Science (FiS) Info Day on Saturday, June 9 at its campus in Bukit Jalil from 10am to 4pm.

FiS Info Days are the perfect opportunity for prospective students to obtain first-hand information on the university and chat with students and staff about how the university’s FiS can provide entry to IMU’s undergraduate programmes, which would lead them to exciting and promising career opportunities.

Prospective parents and students can also chat with faculty members about life in IMU and seek advice on a variety of issues such as applying to the university, financing (including fees and financial assistance) and accommodation.

This is also an opportunity to find out more about scholarships and bursary for students with excellent academic results in SPM. The exact scholarship or bursary offered will vary depending on the students’ results. You can also check on the progression bursary for students who successfully progress into any of the undergraduate programmes in the 2019/2020 intake at IMU.

IMU’s FiS programme aims to prepare students academically and holistically for their undergraduate studies in IMU.

With that in mind, the teaching methodology and assessment methods employed are aligned to the methodologies used in the undergraduate programmes. Students benefit from these as it gives them early exposure and a head start to the undergraduate learning environment.

The FiS in IMU is an important foundation year, which aims to prepare students to be independent learners. The current IMU FiS team consists of carefully selected, well-qualified and experienced staff with specific skill sets that make them ideal pre-university level academicians. The team has a clear understanding of subsequent undergraduate degree progamme requirements and are assisted in this regard by degree level academics who also advise the students on their available undergraduate pathways.

In 2017, six high-achieving FiS students won IMU scholarships to pursue an undergraduate degree in MBBS, BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Chemistry, BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science, BSc (Hons) Chiropractic and BSc (Hons) Dietetics with Nutrition.

The scholarships in the form of full or partial tuition fee waivers are for students demonstrating outstanding academic excellence, extra-curriculum participation and leadership qualities.

The FiS at IMU has three intakes a year – April, July and September. These convenient start dates will enable smooth transition into the preferred degree courses that students are interested in upon successful completion of the programme.

Don’t miss this opportunity – apply for the FiS programme during FiS Info Day and get a waiver of RM450 (terms and conditions apply).
