“I BELIEVE my studies complement my aspiration to be a successful entrepreneur,” said Muhammad Fauzan Ab Manam from HeriotWatt University Malaysia.

The second-year MA International Business Management student explained: “My degree programme links theories with current market practices. This equips me with knowledge and awareness of the industry’s current and best practices, which will give me the competitive edge when applying for internships and jobs.”

Fauzan found his degree helpful in networking and cultivating links with the industry.

“The university has invited organisational leaders to talk about topics related to recent lectures. I find this really helpful as it gives me the chance to ask questions to a real person who has applied the theory,” he explained.

With campuses located in the UK, Dubai and Malaysia, the university recognises the importance of having a global outlook and reach.

It was recently awarded the International University of the Year title by The Times and

Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 – a testament to its truly global stance.

The university was also ranked 41st in the world for its international outlook by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018.

Among others, Heriot-Watt facilitates global education with its seamless inter-campus transfers made easy and accessible for all its students.

Hannah Elizabeth Mary Kane, who is pursuing her studies in International Business Management with Marketing, recently participated in the university’s Go Global programme to transfer from the Edinburgh campus in the UK to the Malaysia campus.

“The opportunity to participate in an inter-campus transfer, which would allow me to study in either Dubai or Malaysia, was one of the reasons I ended up choosing Heriot-Watt as my firm choice over the other offers on the table.

“The chance to experience a culture so different from the typical Scottish environment in which I grew up while not missing out on my studies was hugely appealing. Honestly, I had never been as nervous about anything as I was about making the decision to head out to Malaysia but I firmly believe that this opportunity has been one of the best experiences I have ever had,” she said.

“I have had experiences that I never thought would happen. I have made friends for life and travelled a part of the world that I have never been to before. All this will benefit me hugely both in my personal and work life. Overall, this experience has been life-changing.”

The Go Global inter-campus transfer programme allows Heriot-Watt students to transfer to either of its campuses in the UK, Dubai or Malaysia at any time during their studies.

Studies are uninterrupted; the courses and quality of teaching remain consistent as one course leader oversees the course with examinations being held at the same time across all campuses.
