The wonders in books

-

READING is fun! It helps children learn all kinds of stuff and know many news words. Children who read are also more creative. What books do you like to read? Do you prefer fantasy, folklore or mystery?

Do you like to read fantasy/ adventure books like J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series of books or Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson novels? How about fairy tale books like Brothers Grimm’s Rapunzel and Han Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen?

Books by Enid Blyton have been popular for so many generations.

Have you heard of author Christopher Paolini who wrote the Inheritance Cycle series (comprising the books Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance)?

He was only 15 years old when he first wrote Eragon. The book was named third bestselling children’s hardback book of 2003 and won the Rebecca Caudill Young Reader’s Book Award and the Young Reader’s Choice Award in 2006. A film adaptation of the book was released in 2006.

If you like to write, keep writing. With a bit of luck, you too could be like author Flavia Bujor who wrote The Prophecy Of The Stones (published in 2002) when she was 13!

Recently, Starchild asked readers to send in letters on the topic: My Favourite Book. Let’s hear what they have to say.
