All aboard for a musical Syawal

-

WITH Hari Raya around the corner, the Curve is marking the festive season with a month-long campaign inspired by the olden days of travelling cross-country by train.

Themed Senandung Syawal in homage to the overnight trains that used to be a common mode of balik kampung travel, the mall’s Raya campaign runs from now to June 17.

In keeping with the theme, an authentic train station setting has been recreated at the Curve’s Centre Court, complete with a life-sized passenger train replica.

Visitors are allowed access to the interior of the 12-seater carriage to give them the chance to experience yesteryear longdistance travel.

Taking its cue from this nostalgic setting, the Curve is also putting on a specially choreographed performance entitled the Senandung Syawal Dance Musical Show.

The audience will get to enjoy the multi-talented cast’s brief sketches along with traditional dances such as the joget and zapin.

The performance weaves together a tale of camaraderie, family ties and the joy of reunion, amplified by classic tunes by Sudirman, Saloma, P. Ramlee, Anita Sarawak and more.

Throughout the campaign, shoppers can catch the dance musical shows at 1.30pm and 4.30pm on weekends and during the Raya public holiday.

The Curve’s general manager Jazmi Kamarudin said, “Our nation enjoys a rich heritage and culture, which we wanted to celebrate in our own unique way here at the Curve.

He said the balik kampung tradition had evolved over the years and would bring back memories from childhood for visitors to the Curve, while others might only know about the tradition from stories told by their elders.

“We truly believe this trip down memory lane will bring families closer together and we look forward to celebrating Hari Raya with our loyal patrons,” said Jazmi.

Aside from the dance musical shows, visitors to the Curve can enjoy Eid Musika performances.

The three-, four- and five-piece classical instrumental ensembles will feature the accordion, guitar, violin, flute as well as the traditional gambus.

With over 35 vendors offering a large assortment of Raya goodies, shoppers will have plenty of choices at the Curve, from trendy baju raya and accessories to delicious kuih raya hampers and other merchandise.

Furthermore, shoppers who spend RM200 and above in a maximum of two receipts (Presto users only need to spend RM150) will be able to redeem a set of Salam Restu Raya packets.

Also, an exclusive Snugg Raya 2-in-1 pillow-blanket is available for redemption with a minimum spend of RM480 in a maximum of two receipts (Presto users need only spend RM430).

All redemptions are subject to terms and conditions, and are available while stocks last.
