Bazaar full of goodies

THIS Ramadan, Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa is celebratin­g a vibrant mixture of flavours and aromas at The Resort Café, featuring indoor and outdoor bazaar-style stations with live-action cooking reminiscen­t of the bustling atmosphere of Ramadan bazaars.

Leading the brigade of over 40 chefs is The Resort Café Sous Chef Tournant, Malaysian chef Mohamad Yatim, who is cooking up more than 400 dishes over a span of 29 days.

Alongside many favourite perennial dishes, the team of chefs is introducin­g a fusion of timeless and classic recipes.

A key highlight this year is Bazaaria TRC – a Ramadan bazaarlike concept of live action stations featuring main highlights in nine categories.

The Nasi Station features 15 varieties of speciality rice dishes with the highlight being Bamboo Briyani, which is known for its careful preparatio­n and flavourful taste.

A key highlight of the buffet is Ekor Asam Pedas, a popular dish in Melaka and Johor which complement­s the variety of rice served.

At the Soup Station, The Resort Café’s Sup Gearbox Turbo is back by popular demand.

At the Bakar Station outdoors, a variety of fresh marinated meat and seafood is grilled a la minute.

The Golek Station features a whole lamb marinated overnight with nearly 25 local spices and mixed herbs before being slowly roasted for four hours, producing tender and juicy meat.

Noodle lovers are in for a treat with soup and gravy-based noodles at the Noodle Station.

The Kawah Station features a selection of gulai kawah served outdoors with a selection of two served nightly from eight rotational varieties.

The Ulam-Ulaman Station offers an assortment of over 20 local picks as well as jeruk or pickled fruit, which can be enjoyed with the wide selection of sambals and homemade Asian dressings.

Kerabu is also a highlight at this station with authentic selections. Each day sees a rotation of favourite Asian salads.

The Goreng Station features some of Malaysians’ favourite teatime snacks. Diners can also look forward to sampling a range of Arabic snacks such as kibbeh, falafel, sambousek and brik.

The dedicated Dessert Station is a must-try, especially for durian lovers who would like to enjoy a wide range of durian specialty desserts alongside homemade Malay and Nyonya desserts, an assortment of agar-agar, pudding and bubur. Sarawak kek lapis and an assortment of Raya cookies are also available.

The Resort Café, located at the Lobby Level, is serving its Ramadan buffet dinner nightly from now until June 14, from 6pm to 10.30pm at a special promotiona­l price at RM98 nett per adult from June 11 to 14 and at a normal price of RM178 nett per adult, RM108 nett per senior citizen and RM98 nett per child (aged six to 12) from May 24 to June 10. Group dining and private events

For gatherings of 100 persons or more, Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa offers specially tailored buffet menus throughout the season. Private events can be held at the Grand Lagoon Ballroom, which seats over 2,200 persons, or in any of the other 62 function rooms. Buffet menus are priced according to selections.
