The mysterious box

-

JOHN was a kind-hearted but lonely boy. He lived with his stepmother after his father went missing at sea.

One day, after finishing his house chores and school homework, he fell asleep.

He had a dream in which he saw a vision of his father who told him about a mysterious box under his bed.

Although it was just a dream, John felt that his father’s presence was very real.

When he woke up, he looked for the box under his bed. After removing some books, bags and boxes under his bed, John found an old dusty stainless steel box.

He slowly opened the box and found a golden key. When he touched the key, he was transported to a different world.

He found himself standing in front of a door. The door looked old. But John bravely unlocked the door using the magical key.

He was surprised to find his father waiting at the door to greet him. John’s eyes filled with tears. He ran towards his father and hugged him tightly. They spoke for a while, about his problems with his stepmother.

Suddenly, an evil gangster came into the room and tried to grab John away.

His father fought off the gangster and they managed to flee through the magical door.

When John opened the room door, his stepmother was there waiting for him.

She was terrified yet happy to see her husband with John.

She hugged them.

The magical key had reunited the family. From that day onwards, John lived happily ever after with his father and stepmother. – By Vibusha Santos, 12
