Weaving the spirit of harmony
IN the spirit of “starting a new chapter in life” during Hari Raya Aidilfitri – a time for family, forgiveness, bonding and reconnection – Lembaran Baru is the theme of Sunway Malls’ Hari Raya 2018 campaign.
The theme for Sunway Velocity Mall uses traditional anyaman (weaving) to inspire people to foster closer relationships and mend broken bonds during Hari Raya.
From now to June 24, the mall’s “weaves of harmony” celebrate peace, reconciliation and close relationships formed during this meaningful occasion via an attractive set-up at its Ground Floor Main Atrium, which is designed to aptly reflect the theme.
All these elements come together to provide an Instagram-worthy location this Raya season.
To reward valued shoppers, there are various redemptions available throughout the campaign:
• Tier 1 Redemption – Spend RM200 and above in a maximum of two receipts (RM100 for HSBC credit cardholders) and get Raya packets featuring four designs
• Tier 2 – Spend RM600 and above in a maximum of three receipts (RM500 for HSBC credit cardholders) to get a Weaves of Raya Harmony Scarf
• Tier 3 – Spend RM1,000 and above in a maximum of four receipts (RM900 for HSBC credit cardholders) to receive one RM50 dining voucher.
With any of the above redemptions made, customers will also receive a free Make Your Own Pouch Kit. All redemption items and giveaways are available while stocks last.
For those looking to buy clothes and goodies for Hari Raya, there are specially curated booths such as BORA (tudung), H2G Expert (Dr Nano Skincare and facial services), Cashmere (batik clothing), cookies by Yusa, hampers by Marks & Spencer and Aeon MaxValu Prime (for house visits), as well as Ashura Boutique (baju kurung and tudung), at the Main Atrium.
Sunway Velocity Mall is also organising a donation of traditional Malay attire throughout the festive season to help underprivileged individuals from three separate charity homes celebrate Raya with a smile.
Drop any baju kurung, baju melayu, tudung, shoes, shawls and other attire that are in good or mint condition into the crate located at the Main Atrium. Donors will receive a H&M discount voucher for every contribution.
An exciting variety of activities and performances also awaits, including meet-andgreet sessions, colouring contests and sing-alongs with popular cartoon characters Ejen Ali and Omar and Hana.
There are congkak competitions open to all ages with dining vouchers up for grabs each time a participant beats an opponent, traditional Malay dances such as tarian inang and joget, tarian lagu P. Ramlee and Saloma, tarian petani and tarian zapin Raya.
There are also silat demonstrations, as well as arts and crafts workshops for children such as batik painting, ketupat weaving and making Raya greeting cards and green packets, along with musical performances by students seeking to showcase their talent courtesy of Yamaha and neighbouring international schools.
Local celebrities will be making an appearance on selected weekends as well.

With Hari Raya overlapping with the midyear school holidays, the VeloKiddie Carnival will also be happening in tandem on Level 3 near the Makan Makan Foodcourt from June 8-24, where existing or new members (signup is free) can enjoy a host of games, goodies and activities for free.
All through the fasting month, visitors to Sunway Velocity Mall have the option of breaking fast at outlets with a wide variety of food and beverage offerings.
