HAVING entered the holy month of Ramadan, all Malaysians know that the glorious Hari Raya celebrations are just around the corner.
Ushering in this wonderful occasion with Salam Aidilfitri-themed festivities, Gurney Plaza has transformed its Central Atrium into a Malay traditional arts and craft community area for shoppers to get together in the spirit of Muhibbah.
At its heart is a majestic Rumah Anyaman which displays various local handicrafts and traditional games, inviting one to stroll down memory lane.
The mall hopes to rekindle fond memories of yesteryear and revive interest in such pastimes, by making classics like Congkak, Gasing, Batu Seremban and Teng-teng a key feature of festive decorations.
Throughout the festive period, shoppers can look forward to many exciting events and rewards, including the much-anticipated Exclusive Raya Packet Redemption from June 8 onwards.
Beautifully designed packets can be redeemed by those spending RM300 and above in a maximum of two combined same day receipts. HSBC credit card holders only need to charge RM200 or more. This is limited to three redemptions per shopper per day, only while stocks last.
This weekend (June 2 and 3), there is Complimentary Nail Shaping and Colouring by Blaze Nail for shoppers who spend RM500 and above (RM400 for HSBC credit card holders) in a maximum of two combined same day receipts. It is limited to the first 100 shoppers.
For tomorrow only, the CapitaStar Riang Raya Redemption allows one to exchange 2,000 STAR$ for a six-piece Raya tumbler set. It is limited to a maximum of two redemptions per member, only while stocks last.
On June 9 and 10, the Ramadan Beverage Treat by Urban Coffee rewards shoppers spending RM300 and above (RM200 for HSBC credit card holders) in a maximum of two combined same day receipts. Also limited to the first 100.
From June 14 to 17, an Exclusive Anyaman Pouch can be redeemed by those spending RM300 and above (RM200 for HSBC credit card holders) in a maximum of two combined same day receipts. Limited to first 150 redemptions.
On June 16 and 17, the ITSU Scalp Massager Father’s Day Rewards can be redeemed for spending of RM800 and above (RM700 for HSBC credit card holders) in a maximum of two combined same day receipts. It is limited to the first 50.
All redemptions are to be done at the Information Counter, except for the Tea Aroi Redemption on June 22 and 23, which is at the HSBC booth on the Ground Floor.
Under this, the first 100 shoppers who spend RM300 or more (RM200 for HSBC credit card holders) in a maximum of two combined same day receipts will get a special treat.
After shopping, remember to take in some fascinating cultural displays which the mall has linedup, at the Central Atrium.
There is a Raya Dance Performance this Sunday starting at 2pm, followed by a Wayang Kulit Kelantan showcase at 5pm.
Next Saturday and Sunday (June 9 and 10), there are more Raya Dance Performances at 2pm on both days.
Otherwise, spend RM20 or more in a maximum of two combined same day receipts to get to try Malaysian Traditional Games, anytime from 10.30am to 10pm.
