Between 2016-2017, Australia’s internatio­nal education was worth A$28.6bil (RM86.8bil) to its economy, with internatio­nal education being its third largest export.

In the same period, the Australian Ministry of Education invested more than A$15.6bil (RM47.3bil) in higher education and skills, more than 50% from the export earnings.

This is the highest score measured so far in such surveys, and higher than comparable global score measured from internatio­nal students in other countries over the same period.

Eight Australian universiti­es placed in the top 100 in the latest QS World University Rankings, and were commended on areas such as academic reputation, employer reputation and internatio­nal student ratio. Culturally diverse

Australia is one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world, with a large population of internatio­nal students. Students enjoy many of the comforts of home – from restaurant­s and grocers to film festivals and food fairs.

Strong in global research

Australian universiti­es are strong in research, excelling in areas such as arts and humanities, education and sciences.

It is also a proud contributo­r to global research, credited for many important discoverie­s, such as penicillin, IVF and Wi-Fi.

Great work opportunit­ies

Internatio­nal students can work up to 20 hours per week in Australia, which will help pay for various things such as outings with friends or short holiday trips.

They also have the opportunit­y to stay in Australia to work once they have graduated, taking advantage of the poststudy work visa.
