- By SHARMILA NAIR bytz@thestar.com.my

If you cannot be in Russia to catch all the 2018 fifa World Cup matches in real life, perhaps virtual reality will do.

Astro has unveiled the Stadium Astro VR app that lets viewers watch all the matches live in virtual reality using a VR headset.

users can use any VR headset, including the Google Cardboard, to get a 180° view of the stadium during matches, possibly giving them the feeling of being right in the middle of the action.

“This is an additional viewing experience for our viewers that we have introduced specially for the World Cup season,” says Astro senior assistant vice president (product and technology), Hazlan Hussein.

Non-Sports Pack customers of Astro and NJoI Prepaid can purchase the World Cup Channel Pass for RM100, while nonsubscribers can get it for RM120.

Sports Pack subscribers and Pass holders can watch all the matches in HD on the Astro Go app via the two dedicated fifa World Cup channels.

They can choose to view from 37 different angles, including aerial view, and in super slow motion.

Each pass can be used to log in into four different screens.

on top of that, any viewer can download the Stadium Astro app for real-time match stats and results, including match highlights and behind the scenes footage.

The apps are available on Android and ioS platforms.

Astro, the official broadcaster of fifa World Cup 2018 in Malaysia, will be broadcasting all the 64 matches from June 14 to July 15. for more information visit www. astrogo.com.my.
