Request for reloads

USERS of Unifi Mobile, the digital prepaid mobile service by Telekom Malaysia (TM), can get by with a little help from their friends with the Pay4Me feature, which allows others to top up their prepaid accounts.

“Hassle-free reloading experience made just for you. With this new feature, you can request reload from your friends and family with just a tap of a button,” according to Unifi on its website.

The account holder who needs the money has to initiate the process through the Unifi Mobile app by reloading his or her account using the Pay4Me payment option.

Instead of paying it themselves, users will be prompted to send the payment request to a friend or family member via Unifi or social media.

Upon successful payment, an e-receipt will be sent to payer’s e-mail and the requester will receive a successful reload notification.

The rates for top ups are RM50 for 8GB of data, RM30 for 4GB, RM15 for 2GB and RM13 for 1GB. For cellular, it is RM30 for 200 minutes of calls and 200 SMSes or RM10 for 60 minutes of calls and 60 SMSes.

Calls are charged based on a 60-second block and users can also use their data for WiFi hotspots.

Users can also use any extra credit in their account to buy apps from the Google Play store.

TM says the credit on Unifi Mobile never expires, though the company will terminate lines that are not used or reloaded within 90 days from the last purchase date.

The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms, with new users being able to sign up through the app and request a SIM card, which can be self-collected or couriered.

Users can sign up for up to five SIM cards at a time and also port their number from other telcos.
