Omega’s latest watches balance both state-of-the-art innovation and wellloved, enduring designs.
SWISS watchmaker Omega is adding even more choices, materials and colours to its growing collection. The 2018 releases come in varied designs and looks that will surely impress.
The famous Seamaster Diver 300M for instance, has been given a facelift. It is now offered in 14 unique models, including six in stainless steel and eight in a mix of stainless steel and gold.
Sized at a larger 42mm, each one houses a Master Chronometer Calibre 8800, instantly taking the collection into a higher realm of precision, performance and magnetic resistance.
Every detail of the outward design has also been rethought, including the iconic diving bezel, which is made from ceramic with the diving scale in ceragold or white enamel.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra collection however, has undergone a more subtle transformation. It includes new “jewellery” models with an elegant and elevated aesthetic.
They feature a symmetrical 38 mm case crafted from 18K Sedna gold and includes a diamond-paved bezel. This same gold is used for the watch’s hands, which point to 12 marquise-cut red rubies at every hour.
The dial is notable for three different styles of horizontal waves celebrating the undulating rhythm of the ocean. On the side of the case, the conical crown is polished with an Omega logo on a matte surface.
Another iconic watch, the Seamaster 1948 is currently available in two limited edition models. While staying true to the original design, they are powered by calibres which are very much a product of the 21st century.
The Seamaster 1948 Small Seconds and Central Second watches are driven by Master Chronometer movements 8804 and 8806 respectively, giving them the status of being battle-tested at the watch industry’s highest level.
For 2018, Omega is also relaunching its Speedmaster Dark Side Of The Moon timepiece. Unlike previous models, this release houses a specially decorated version of the famous Moonwatch movement.
To display the workings inside, the dial of this timepiece has been skeletonised. Inside, laser ablation is used to precisely decorate the bridges and main plate of the blackened movement, producing realistic imagery of the lunar surface.
And like the moon, it reveals two unique sides. The dial-side is a light shade to represent the view of the moon’s surface from Earth, while the back of the watch delves into the dark side that only astronauts get to see.
In this new creation, Omega has again embraced its popular “Dark Side Of The Moon” innovation, producing the entire watch in black zirconium oxide ceramic. To contrast this dark tone, the brand has chosen a yellow colour accent.
Finally, the new Tresor collection offers a classic design with an updated, modern edge. Each model is distinguished by its thin case, available in either 39mm or 36mm sizes.
In all the models, diamond paving curves along each side of the case and a single diamond is set within the crown. For an added touch, each crown also includes a red liquid ceramic flower, with a design made out of five Omega logos.
The timepieces are also noticeable for their transferred or embossed Roman numerals, which elegantly circle the dial. On each Tresor model, Omega has included a special mirrored caseback with a “Her Time” design.
