Song of the week
TAKEN from the band’s upcoming album The Pen Is Mightier, Kyoto Protocol’s new single Delta Wing was inspired by a Vox documentary on Concorde Planes (the name of the song is actually what the wingspan design was called). And like the subject of that show, it manages to soar to unexpected heights at supersonic speeds. A rocking but still somewhat melancholic tune that manages to soar higher and higher as the song progresses, lead vocalist Fuad Alhabshi delivers a measured vocal performance while throwing in airplane metaphors galore. It’s a solid return for the Malaysian band, and we can’t wait to see what its new album will sound like. – Michael Cheang
