ONE of the hallmarks of Open University Malaysia (OUM) as the nation’s premier open and distance learning institution is its commitment to providing access to anyone who wants to learn, regardless of location, age, gender or socio-economic background.

The slogan “Your Neighbourhood University” is what sets OUM apart from other higher education institutions in Malaysia. Thus far, OUM has established 33 learning centres nationwide as it strives for higher accessibility to education.

In the southern region, OUM has five learning centres in Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Johor.

People living in Johor can enrol at learning centres in Johor Baru, Batu Pahat or Pontian, while those in Melaka and Negri Sembilan can attend OUM learning centres in Bandar Bukit Baru and Seremban respectively.

While most learning materials and resources are available online through myINSPIRE, the university’s learning management system, the centres provide ample space for learners to meet up, hold discussions and study.

All campuses are equipped with tutorial rooms, computer laboratories and student lounges. Learners can also take advantage of the free wireless Internet connection available throughout the learning centre.

Support services are crucial to ensure learners’ needs are always met. In this regard, the learning centre directors, academic staff and other qualified officers are always ready to assist learners when required.
