Acer Malaysia soups up its machines with better specs and also makes them hardier.

ACER Malaysia has unveiled its new line-up of computers for businesses and educators, including desktops, laptops and affordable Chromebook­s.

Its business-grade desktop range, the Veriton, is able to connect to up to three displays without the need for additional graphics cards.

Acer Sales & Services Sdn Bhd general manager of products, sales and marketing, Chan Weng Hong, says the company is constantly innovating to improve every product in its commercial line with the latest technology, including the Intel 8th generation processors.

the Veriton uses an SSD (solid state drive) and is powered by a Core i7+ chip so the desktops run smoothly even under heavy load. the Veriton S, Veriton X and Veriton M series are priced from RM1,999 onwards.

For those that need to work on the go, the TravelMate laptop range boasts long-lasting batteries that will power the machines for up to 15 hours, ensuring that users can accomplish all their tasks without having to lug a charger.

the screen has a blue light filter so staring at it all day won’t disrupt your body’s sleep rhythm, and the chiclet keyboard has a travel distance between 1.3mm and 1.6mm, so users can touch type confidentl­y.

the TravelMate P2 series is priced from RM2,499, while the TravelMate X starts from RM3,999 for the Core i5 model and RM4,899 for the Core i7 model.

Designed for teachers and anyone who works off the Cloud, the Chromebook Spin 11 features a 360° dual-torque hinge that allows the machine to be used in four modes, including tablet and tent which makes it easy to watch videos.

“Acer will continue to excite the market with new devices to accelerate their adoption in business, education and at home. With more features available with Chrome OS, we are responding with form factors that offer more meaningful benefits,” said Chan.

Being a Chrome device, it fully supports Google Play and users will have access to more than two million Android apps.

the Spin 11 comes in two affordable variants – the C6GV with 8GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at RM1,699 while the lighter C9K5 comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage for RM1,399.

Designed to be tough, which is especially handy when working with children in classrooms, is the Chromebook C11.

Compliant with the US Military testing for ruggedness, it can handle drops from heights up to 122cm (4ft), while its unique internal honeycomb structure reinforces the body to handle up to 60kg of downward force on the top cover.

this Chromebook 11 weighs just 1.26kg and costs RM1,099.

Lastly, Acer says its Chromebook tab 10 is the first education tablet running Chrome OS, and it will support AR (augmented reality) in the future.

It will make learning more immersive with Google’s expedition­s AR tech which will map the physical classroom and place 3D objects in it for students to study.

the 9.7in touchscree­n has a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels, and has a battery that can last up to nine hours.

the Chromebook tab 10 is priced at RM1,299.
