The smartphone scene is always hot but the huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i have what it takes to standout in the increasingly crowded market. From AI cameras to fun emoji, here are the features that make these smartphones the new stars.

Fourfold fun

The Nova 2i was claimed to be the first quad camera smartphone and now the Nova 3 and 3i have topped that by featuring quad AI cameras, also claimed to be the first.

As the dual rear AI cameras recognise 22 different scenes and objects, the phone is able to pick the ideal camera setting to get the best shot. The front AI cameras recognises eight scenes – Blue Sky, Indoor, Plant, Flower, Stage Performance, Snow, Night, Beach – so you look your best in your selfies, no matter the loca twin tion.

The Nova 3’s rear cameras a re24 megapixels and 16 megapixels while the Nova 3i’s are

16 megapixels and

2 megapixels. Both feature 24-megapixel and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras.

Almost all screen

Once users have taken gorgeous photos, they can show them off on the phones’ 6.3in full hD screens. Both have the same screen but the Nova 3 hasa generous 83.04% screen-to-bezel ratio while the Nova 3i’s stands at 81%.

Basically, the front is nearly all screen, with a slight notch that’s come to be a signature look for modern flagship phones.

The back is equally stunning – the Nova 3 and 3i Iris Purple model have a two-tone back that shifts between blue and purple, just like the high-end huawei P20 Twilight. The Nova 3i also has another signature colour – Pure White, a colour scheme not often seen these days as other smartphones take on more serious, dark colours.

Beyond colour, the phone fits comfortably in hand, with the Nova 3 having a slim metal frame that’s curved and just 3.55mm thick.

3D Qmoji

The Nova 3 selfie camera can scan a user’s face and transform it into a cartoony 3D version using the Qmoji feature. For those with a sense of humour, you can pick one of the eight anthropomorphic faces, including a penguin, robot, cat, dog and even a cherry wearing headphones.

The Qmoji is not limited to a specific messaging app, and work sonmost messengers and social media platforms.

Another fun feature is slow-motion video capture at 480fps (frames per second), great for recording moments like scoring a goal or cannonballing into a pool.

AI Game Suite

With most people gaming on their phones instead of computers and consoles, huawei made sure that the Nova 3 and Nova 3i have enough firepower to run games smoothly using the Game Suite features.

The AI-powered Game Suite gives users an uninterrupted gaming experience – if a call comes in, it’ll appear in a smaller window so you are not taken out of the game.

The smartphones will also be the first to feature GPU Turbo when it’s introduced on Aug 8, and it’s claimed to improve graphics processing efficiency by 60%, reducing SoC (System on a Chip) power consumption by up to 30%, while still maintaining 60fps for a smooth gameplay experience.

High-end hardware

The Nova 3 is equipped with huawei’s flagship processor, the Kirin 970 NPU (neural processing unit) AI chip while the Nova 3i runs on Kirin 710. Although Nova 3i doesn’t have an NPU, huawei has used its expertise in AI to engineer it with AI capabilities.

Both smartphones have a large storage capacity of 128GB, something that’s rarely seen on a mid-range model – this will allow users to store plenty of selfies, Qmoji videos and other large files.

Lastly, the Nova 3 has a whopping 6GB RAM and the Nova 3i has 4GB RAM so you can multitask without worry.
