Good housekeeping

MOST people work hard and seek to be prosperous but not many achieve their dreams of being wealthy.

Why? Could it be because there is a energy block or that one has neglected his or her home?

In the Indian science of construction, Vasthu Sastra, one has to prepare and organise one’s homes in order to woo the energy of abundance and to welcome a positive force. Rearranging or correcting faults on a property can remove obstructions to energy flow and thus resolve problems linked to finance.

The two keys areas you should check or keep an eye are the north-east and the south-west sectors of your house because when these two quadrants are affected, wealth will not be stimulated.

The north-east quadrant is where subtle energy enters into any enclosed space and this area should not be blocked by tall structures like trees, buildings or hills.

The location must be light, free from clutter and weight, and if possible the ground slightly lower than the floor. Having level flooring is also fine.

Avoid having a staircase, toilet, bathroom

it this and will kitchen lead to the in the breadwinner north-east or incurring more expenditure than income and thus facing financial losses.

In the exterior, the plot should not have a curve or cut in the north-east corner because such defects will distort the energy channel. A perfect rectangular plot is encouraged. The road in front of the house should be lower or at least same level but not higher than the house.

Having an elevated road is a serious fault in Vasthu and it can lead to the owner struggling financially and facing financial stress.

The wealth sector in any property is in the south-west and extra care should be given to ensure this space is used appropriately to improve money growth.

For instance, having a water feature like a pond or swimming pool in the south-west would clash with the energy of good fortune.

The south-west should be dry and heavy, and if possible higher than the rest of the floor or ground.

In the extreme south-west corner (wealth quadrant) a safe should be placed where valuables, money and

important documents should be kept.

The safe should be placed on a red piece of cloth or carpet and should face and open towards the north for wealth to flourish.

If you are unable to have a safe, cash and valuables can also be kept in a cabinet or drawer without the position and direction compromised.

Also ensure the safe is not placed under a beam and items like a water bottle, medication and other personal items are not placed on top of the safe.

To further attract a plentiful energy, copper pyramids should be placed on top of the safe; and inside the safe five lotus seeds and a citrine crystal can be kept.

While you may have fixed the prosperity area well, it will be incomplete if you do not take care of other areas of your house, particularly in terms of cleanliness.

Sweep and mop your house daily and free the interior and exterior from cobwebs and dirt.

Vasthu also recommends repair work to be conducted on leaking pipes, taps and water tank because a water leakage signifies unexpected loss of income.

Another technique is to feed grains and water to birds coming to your compound because this will show appreciation to all living beings and in return you will receive more good energy.

In short, just as you would brush your teeth, bathe and clean yourself daily, your home should also receive the same treatment to appear vibrant and attract positive energy.
